Love in a cup

These uncomplicated treats are all about the love. Celebrate Valentine’s Day with a cup of red, jiggly Jello fancied up with chocolate and Cool Whip.

What you need:

1 oz.  Baker’s Semi-Sweet Chocolate, melted
2 cups boiling water, divided
2 pkg. (85 g each) Jell-O Strawberry
Jelly Powder, divided
1½ cups cold water, divided
ice cubes
1 cup thawed Cool Whip
Whipped Topping
24 Valentine candies

Make it:

Draw heart design or write Valentine’s Day message in each of 8 (6-oz.) clear plastic cups by piping melted chocolate onto inside of cup. Refrigerate until chocolate is firm.

Add 1 cup boiling water to 1 pkg. jelly powder in medium bowl; stir 2 min. until completely dissolved. Stir in 1 cup cold water; pour into prepared cups. Refrigerate 1 hour or until jelly is firm.

Meanwhile, add remaining boiling water to remaining jelly powder in medium bowl; stir 2 min. until completely dissolved. Add enough ice cubes to remaining cold water to measure 1 cup. Add to jelly; stir until thickened. Stir in Cool Whip; spoon over jelly layer in cups. Refrigerate 3 hours or until firm. Serve topped with candies.

Tip:

Microwave chocolate in microwaveable bowl on medium for one minute stirring after 30 seconds. (The chocolate will retain its shape until chocolate is stirred.) Stir until chocolate is completely melted.

Editor’s note:

Use raspberry Jello and add some fresh or thawed frozen berries to the bottom layer. Try substituting ice cream for Cool Whip, topping the desert with it right before serving.
